Match Report: U15 Boys National Cup - Kinvara Utd 5-1 Calry Bohs

Kinvara U15A powered through their 2nd round SFAI National Cup match against Calry Bohs. An emphatic display saw them run out 5-1 winners.

The 1st goal came 2 minutes into the contest. An excellent delivery of a corner kick by Pierce Waterhouse was met neatly on the volley by Róan Cassidy Ó Máirtín.

This goal was joined by another a couple of minutes later. Pierce struck a well-placed free kick beyond the reach of the Calry keeper. 2-0

Kinvara’s 3rd goal came again from Róan who controlled the ball well in the box and coolly shot past the diving keeper. Kinvara almost went 4 up after a sweet strike from 30m out by Eli Huban flashed narrowly wide.

Kinvara continued their dominance in the 2nd half. Isaac Warrick and Evan Canning controlled the midfield with excellent work rate and reading of the game.

A mistake in the back, however, resulted in Bohs getting a goal back. Shortly after, Otis Warrick pulled off an outstanding one-on-one save to deny Bohs a second. Within a minute Kinvara scored their 4th. Charlie Forde’s powerful cross was put into his own net by the Boh’s defender. Even though Kinvara were clearly the stronger team, this minute of the game proved defining. From potentially being 3-2 up, we went 4-1 up and out of reach.

Adan Hammer finished off a good performance with a well-taken goal, great footwork and a neat finish putting Kinvara 5-1 up.

The back 3 of Luke Marchant, Jake McMahon and Gavin Fitzmaurice performed well, bravely getting out in front of their opponents and distributing the ball well.

Otis Warrick had an assured performance, coming off his line when needed and pulling off 2 outstanding, point blank saves.

Charlie Forde and Adam Hammer on the wings attacked with speed, skill and intelligence. Eli Huban up front was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Some tight offside decisions went against him but he showed real class as always.

The midfield 4 of Isaac, Evan, Pierce and Róan put in a considerable shift and were pivotal in much of what we did well throughout the game.

Alex Danjou showed some good touches and clever link-up play on the wing and as an attacking midfielder. His commitment to the tackle was notable.

That result puts us in the last 12 of the Connacht section of the National Cup. There are only great teams left in the competition. There’s no doubt we’ll put it up to whatever team we meet next.
