Kinvara Utd U14 2-2 Kinvara Utd U13B (U13Bs win on pens)
Last Monday KUFC U14 players had a challenge match with fellow KUFC U13B team who prepare for their U13 Div 4 Cup Semifinal vs West United this Saturday, 2 April kickoff 10:30 in Killina.
It was a fine evening and Killina was buzzing once again with teams back training on the pitch. The U14s were captained by Michael Costello who had an excellent game in the back three cutting out many attacks and going on many runs of his own.
The team lined out with Joe Walsh in goals, a back three of Michael, Ollie Gately and Jack Kelly Niland, Ruairí Owens and Adam Kelly wingbacks, Ciarán Fee and Adam Patterson middle midfield, Haroun Mellick attacking midfielder and a front two of Ruairí Sarma and Oisin Maguire.
There was great intensity to the match with box to action. Ruairí scored in the first half with the goalie rushing off his line to narrow the angle, he smartly slotted it into the bottom right corner. Haroun capped a fine performance with a goal in the second half. The U13s upped the tempo and made a good come back scoring twice in the second half.
The game ended in a draw. However, given the occasion and the possibility the U13s semifinal could go to penalties, the teams played out a penalty shootout.
Joe Walsh and U13s goalie Gavin Kennedy pulled off some great saves and the u13s came out on top.
All the players and management wish the U13s the best of luck at the weekend.
