Cregmore/Claregalway FC 0-3 Kinvara Utd
A great performance away to a strong Cregmore side by the odd goal in three, booked Kinvara a place in the semi final of the u13 Championship Cup.
Playing into the strong wind, Kinvara started the better and had a few early half chances. Cregmore came more into the game as the half progressed, but excellent goalkeeping and stout defending kept them at bay. Kinvara's patient play paid off with Eli Huban grabbing Kinvara's first after some fine midfield play. Kinvara finished the half the strongest and came close to doubling their lead on a few occasions Aided by wind, Kinvara started the second half strongly. Kinvara's midfield started to dictate the pace of the game and put Cregmore under a lot of pressure. Morgan Waterhouse put Kinvara 2 up midway through the half after some fine passing out of defence through midfield. Eli Huban scored the third with 10minutes left after some fine wing play. Cregmore to their credit never gave up and provided Kinvara with a few scares at the end.
Without a game for a number of weeks, this was a very pleasing performance from the boys. Otis Warwick was solid in goals, 2 full length finger tip saves in particular, stand out. Keelin Miroud and Aidan Donoghue were our flying fullbacks on the day, attacking and defending throughout. JJ O'Connor and the returning Shay Mooney resumed their centre back partnership and defended dilligently throughout. Ozzy O'Connor, Josh Kennedy, Skipper Milo Heaney, Conor O'Donnell, Senan Frawley (with 2 assists) and Matthew Sexton bossed midfield. Eli Huban and Morgan Waterhouse took their chances well.
After a slight wobble in the league, its nice to see the lads back in the groove. Credit also to Cregmore for a tough, sporting game. Nice to establish a rivalry with them that we had back in the Oranmore tournament a couple of years ago.
